The impacts of our changing climate worsen the affordable housing crisis, putting millions of households at risk of displacement.
We have heard from owners and operators that they want to make their properties more resilient to these environmental risks but are unsure what strategies could be both effective and affordable. The Enterprise Climate Resilience Academies, reaching regions throughout the country, are a response to that request for support and guidance.
Mid-Atlantic Climate Resilience Academy
Our seventh academy to date, the Mid-Atlantic Climate Resilience Academy, is designed specifically for multifamily affordable housing owners, operators, and developers across the Maryland, DC, and Virginia region. The eight-week cohort-style academy will kick-off on October 8, 2024, with an in-person session in Washington, D.C., followed by biweekly virtual sessions.
Applications for the Mid-Atlantic Climate Resilience Academy can be submitted through August 30th.
During the academy, peers, experts and local stakeholders will learn how to assess portfolio risk, build and retrofit climate-resilient housing, prepare for increased climate disasters, navigate funding and financing from local and federal sources (including the IRA), and more. These regional, cohort-based learning opportunities are for affordable housing owners, operators and developers to engage with one another, content experts and local stakeholders to address the unique hazards of their region.
